The two Haydn concertos reconrded here ara pillars od the cello repertoire, and unquestionably the two most accomplishedworks in their genre from the Viennese Classical era. As to the concerto by Matthias Georg Monn (a major figure of the transition from Baroque to Classicism), it is a remarkable work from the pre-Haydn period.
